“Civilisation exists by geological consent, subject to change without notice.”

Will Durant, 1885 - 1981

Earth provides resources like soil and water; energy, such low-carbon geothermal, and every single raw material that makes the objects we use in our daily lives. But there's more to the story…

Earth's geodiversity, often overshadowed by its more famous sibling, biodiversity, is the unsung partner that underpins life on our planet. It's the bedrock of all ecosystems, enabling life to flourish, and the source of natural hazards like earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, floods, and landslides that can wreak havoc and disrupt our lives.

Surprisingly, most people are unaware of how dependent and influenced we are by geodiversity. That's why FourSix was created.

With an extensive geoscience background and together with experts from the arts and technology, we are the first agency fully and exclusively dedicated to the Earth Sciences. Our mission? To bring the wonders and significance of Earth to the forefront of public awareness and understanding.

Let's rewrite this narrative together.

Because Earth's history is our history.

FourSix is the first agency fully dedicated to the Earth Sciences.

They are the age of the planet

For the past 18 years, Earth Sciences have served as a passport to work in a multitude of scientific realms and around the world. Whether in the Brazilian outback, where I worked as a wellsite geologist, the depths of UK’s gypsum and potash mines - PhD “fieldwork” locations while at Imperial College London – the southern plains of Alentejo, in Portugal, or the offices of UNESCO in Paris, geoscience has been more than just a job. It has been passion, shaping my personality and worldview. Today, I’m as fascinated by the wonders of our planet as I was in 1990 when my father took me on a trilobite hunt in central Portugal where I stumbled upon a remarkable specimen. Part of me still wonders if he didn't plant it to ignite my enthusiasm. Regardless, it worked!

Out of that passion, the drive to share it with others, and guided by the belief that "Civilization exists by geological consent"- as Will Durant once put it in an article for the Ladies Home Journal in 1946 – FourSix was born.

We are dedicated to assisting research projects, companies, and organizations within the Earth Sciences, spanning from geoheritage to mining, sustainable agriculture, and carbon storage, just to name a few, in highlighting the societal relevance of their work, showcasing the impact and importance of their contributions.

I’m the author of one of the most recent Gestalten publications “The UNESCO Global Geoparks”.

Geoparks and Geoheritage

For over two decades, my journey has been a dynamic exploration of diverse knowledge domains, cultures, approaches, and fields of study. Originating from a background in business administration and marketing in Colombia, my trajectory led me through a master's degree in communication, heritages and sustainable development in France, followed by a Ph.D. in museology at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. It was during this Ph.D. that I first delved into the Earth Sciences and the fascinating world of geological heritage and UNESCO Global Geoparks. Since then, Earth Sciences have become a central focus of my work, and I've organized events such as the first geoheritage meeting in Colombia, coordinated the virtual week of UGGs for Latin America, and acted as a consultant for the Geological Survey of Colombia and UNESCO's Geoparks and Geoscience Programme. Additionally, I have played a significant role in jury panels for Earth Sciences bachelor's and master's dissertations in Colombia and Portugal, focusing on Geoconservation, Geotourism, and Geoparks. Presently, I am honored to serve as associate fellow at the groups of Geological environment and tectonics in Colombia and at the UMR 208 PALOC in France.
